DAF EMBASSY RECEIVES HISTORIC PORTRAIT OF BOOKER T. WASHINGTON FROM THE AFRICAN AMERICAN INSTITUTE, WASHINGTON
The Embassy for the African Diaspora(DAF) expressed deep appreciation to The African American Institute, Washington, for its generous donation of an official portrait of Dr. Booker Taliaferro Washington.
Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett, Founder and Head of Mission of DAF Embassy, together with Dr. Toni Luck, Chief of Staff of DAF Embassy, and members of the Board and partners, received the portrait on behalf of the Embassy.
The portrait holds historic significance as the DAF Embassy is the only diplomatic mission on the African continent to house the image of Dr. Booker T. Washington, making it a unique tribute to his legacy of education, self-reliance, and Pan-African unity.
Dr. Toni Luck announced plans to inscribe Dr. Washington’s name on the historic Sankofa Wall at the DAF Embassy.
The Sankofa Wall honors ancestors and global icons of African descent whose work and sacrifice continue to inspire liberation, education, and empowerment across the Diaspora.
Honoring him at DAF Embassy reinforces the bridge between Africans on the continent and those in the Diaspora.
