PRESS RELEASE – GHANA CELEBRATES THE LIFE OF QUEEN MOTHER VIOLA FORD FLETCHER

The DAF Embassy of the Diaspora led by the Founder and Head of Mission, Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett organized a tribute ceremony in honor of this icon Queen Mother Viola Ford Fletcher.
In a speech by the President of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama delivered by the Deputy Director, Diaspora Affairs Office of the President read by the Deputy, Nana Kyere Agyeman,
He said, “ We stand here on the soil of her second home. Ghana, the spiritual home of Pan-Africanism, to pay tribute to a life that transformed history and inspired generations.”
In a remark also by former President H.E Nana Akufo Addo, read by Dr. Toni Luck, the president stated that, “Queen Mother Fletcher embodied extraordinary strength,
resilience, and grace. The President considers it profoundly meaningful that she journeyed back to
Africa, returned to Ghana, and was joyfully welcomed as a Ghanaian citizen before her transition.
Her life reminds us that history can wound, but it can also heal,and that the ties between Africa and its Diaspora remain unbreakable.”
Ike Howard grandson of Mother Fletcher, represented the family at the ceremony, which celebrated her life, achievements, and unwavering dedication to her roots. He also presented her book entitled; “Don’t let them bury my story” to both Presidents.
The DAF Embassy of the Diaspora extends its gratitude to all who joined in honoring Mother Fletcher’s legacy, and looks forward to continuing her work in strengthening ties between Africa and its Diaspora.
